20th century lit: read Miguel Torga, Raul Brandão, Pessoa, Miguel Esteves Cardoso, Almeida Faria, José Cardoso Pires, and so on, if you can even find them in translation. Also Lobo Antunes, which you can probably find easily enough and is also good.

21th century: I mostly hate what I see on bookshelves these days, but people do seem to like Valter Hugo Mãe. Stay away from José Luis Peixoto and above all, that little faggot Pedro Chagas Freitas, although I hate both equally because they are both effeminate, cock sucking self-important faggots

quite liked Bruno Vieira Amaral recently. I'll list more authors later
