>Vertical development, in this case, means developing fundamentally new systems that go on top of the existing "layer" of tech.
This is incredibly vague. Were cars a vertical or horizontal development relative to horses? People at the time were thinking horizontally — it’s a “motor carriage” — but today we see it as a paradigm shift. The distinction is subjective. Likewise, in the bow-and-arrow example (ignoring the many stages of development between sticks and arrows), a bow-and-arrow could be characterized as a horizontal improvement on the spear: a way of throwing farther than by hand. There’s no quantitative argument in either direction, so the distinction is meaningless.

If enrollment-only counts, it's more like 8 times for me. If been enrolled in mathematics, economics, music, philosophy, theology, computer science, mixed STEM studies, computer science again, media design, and... I think that's it.

When you guys type out "my diary desu" do you manually type out "desu" or do you write "T_B_H" and let the word filter get it for you?
Personally it depends on my mood and what kind of tone I originally meant to give off the the reply, but ultimately because the outcome is always the same such intentions aren't conveyed to the reader.
Despite that I still hold such intentions and try to put it across. I feel that this kind of pointlessness of discerning the minutia of actions is a very interesting thing to explore because it can tell you a lot about a person, books on this feel?
