Wrote this one last year, I think it's half decent but pretty dumb

It was early in the afternoon when John received a call from his son’s school informing him that he had been preaching Nazism to the other students. Once again his son had tried to provoke thought—or at least that’s what he always called it.
John stared blankly at the road ahead, his son sat in the seat beside him. Both were silent, waiting for the other to start. An obnoxious commercial blared from the radio, sirens and all, informing them both of the red-hot deals down at Paul’s Warehouse.
‘You’re an idiot.’
‘You only say that because you don’t understand.’
‘You’re right, I don’t understand. I don’t understand why you would get up in front of your class and praise Hitler.’
‘I didn’t praise Hitler.’
‘You said “I owe everything to Hitler”.’
‘Yes, but I wasn’t praising Hitler. I was simply saying that I owe everything to him, and so do you.’
John pulled his hair at what his son was saying, ‘What’s your point?’
‘My point,’ he began, looking out the window, contemplatively, ‘is that Hitler and his regime were so influential that no aspect of life in Europe—or the entire world for that matter—was left unaffected. They were so influential that they are responsible for literally everything that has occurred since 1945. This includes your birth, mine and all the events in-between. Therefore, I owe everything to Hitler. If it weren’t for him the circumstances of my conception and birth would not have been possible. In other words, my existence is a direct result of the Nazi regime.’
John let out a weary sigh at what had just been said to him, ‘Why do you do this?’
‘To provoke thought.’
John felt a wave flush through him, his head felt heavy and faint, the car rolled to a stop at a crossing, he shut his eyes and felt a dry burning sensation, he scrunched his face, trying to suppress it, the inside of his head rumbled, offering relief, but only temporarily. He remembered the rest of what the school had told him. His eyes opened just in time to see the lights turn green.
‘What about those pamphlets you were handing out?’
‘They’re just copies of my latest treatise. It details the idea I just explained along with a few others. It also features a collection of aphorisms that I think my readership will enjoy.’
‘So it wasn’t Nazi stuff?’
‘Oh no,’ he said with a laugh.
‘Then why is there a swastika on the cover?’
‘Oh that, just a bit of playful irony.’
‘Playful irony,’ John echoed, wearily. The conversation now ended as his son’s willingness to reply had been exhausted. John sighed, shook his head and cursed his life internally while his son read over a signed copy of his own treatise.
