Using terms such as 'adult relationship' to shame someone suggests you adhere to the same tactics of enforced conformity. You claim your own lifestyle as that of an adult and thereby imply that any deviations are childish and of lesser value. I was just pointing out that his sort of shaming doesn't work anymore, since a lot of people don't feel obliged to adhere to your standards of adulthood anymore and some of them would even consider your lifestyle downright nightmarish.
