The first thing you need to understand is that The Argument is everything.
The Argument is civilization; The Argument is peace; The Argument is love;
The Argument is truth and beauty; The Argument is, in fact, life itself.

Are girls who read better than girls who don't read? What's the difference really or is it just the same bullshit as with all women?

now I do find that reading books helps me to put certain situations in a different
perspective. Which books do you guys recommend to feel positive about life?

So I hate actually reading books. But I want to know the stories of Barsoom, Tarzan, and the 2 Alice in wonder land books.

What is the best place to get a high quality audiobook for free or other 100% unabridged adaptation that I don't have to read?

Hey there /lit/, I'm a complete pleb who needs to give an oral presentation about early modernism in Western Literature using Oscar Wildes "The Picture of Dorian Gray" as material.

Could someone help me by maybe writing me a manuscript I would read in front of the class? Or just give me some tips on what I should do.

Hey /lit/ I need to write an essay and give an oral representation of a book that is important in the history of western literature.

At first I was thinking about 'Picture of Doriagn Gray' by Oscar Wilde but then I realized it's pretty gay and I didn't want to feel uncomfortable giving a presentation on such a gay book.

Please help /lit/, we can choose anything from Antique to Modernism and I have no idea what I should pick. Now I'm not really interested in literature and don't read much (apart from the occasional GoT) so I would prefer if the book wasn't too long and was somewhat interesting.

I need your help /lit/. I'm on a course about the history of western literature and I'm supposed to pick a subject from these:

1. Antique
2. The Middle Ages and the Renaissance
3. Classicism
4. Romanticism
5. Realism
6. Symbolism and decadence
7. Modernism

We are also supposed to pick a book from the literary periods to read. Now, I know nothing about literature nor do I care much about it, so I'm not at all sure what I should pick! If you would be so kind as to suggest what subject would be the easiest to do an oral presentation and write an essay from that would be nice. Oh and you could also recommend a book for me to read from that period.

I live in a small town; the people are gloomy and despise intelligence. I'm afraid I'll be laughed at amongst friends if I'm seen going to the library for books. The few people that go to the library are plebs, and only go to use the computers. If I'm seen going in, which I will be, undoubtedly, I'm afraid I'll have a negative label attached to my name. Also, I'm only 18, so I do care what people think about me. I wish I didn't.

Have any of you had the same problem? How did you overcome it?
