What's the most depressing book you've ever read? I'm talking soul-motherfucking-crushing. The kind where you curl into a ball for days and stop eating because, "what's the point?"

She's good at world building. The only reason she got published was because someone read past the first page. Most publishers wouldn't do that. Your first page is your sales pitch. If you don't stand out, then they'll move onto the next of thousands of manuscripts that they have to sift through.
