As you dicing an onion you nick your finger. Suddenly, your action does not exist in itself. You are observing it, questioning, reflecting; you are out of the action and alongside it. This is being-for-itself.
Your roommate walks in. You find things are different, tasks are harder. The gaze of the Other is on you; you are now being-for-others.
Those 3 structures (and plenty of others) make up being. But those are the most important to understand for the basics of being.
