I watched Stolen Kisses yesterday and the ending was so adorable that I was happy for like an hour. I’d recommend Boyfriends and Girlfriends by Rohmer as a similar ‘feel good’ movie with charming characters. I also watched Boy meets girl recently and it’s also charming but it felt more a work of the author if that makes sense to you, it’s one of those films that I’d like to make if I made films. Loved all of these desu. I will definitely check Araki’s movies.

there's a girl in one of my classes this semester like this, raised by Catholic family, smarter than me

we're on friendly terms and we talk in class, smile at each other when prof makes a joke, but idk where it's going to lead. I will probably just ask her out at some point and see what happens

pic related to me remembering this story
>Be me 17
>Living with my sister because parents weren't the best
>We move in to a new house, a one story cheap one but it was in a better area than the last
>On the first day we move an elderly couple give us a pie the guys name was Steve and his wife's name was Clara. We thank them and chat with them for a while
>The next week they come back over with another pie. We invite them in and chat for a few hours, at least till dark
>the old dudes a veteran and his wife bakes for fun and it used to be a profession
>they've been married for +60 years and they look like they're in their 80s
>they're sweet :)
>a few weeks of them giving us pies and talking for hours goes on
>me and my sister feel bad for taking pies from them so that week, a day before they come over, we went over to their house and gave them a pie
>they were happy
>I was happy
>we would see each other every day and talk about stories and play chess
ffw 4 months later
>They don't come over for a few days
wot?
>me and my sister go over to their house.
>Steve answers the door
>hes sobbing
>Im crying just thinking about it
>Clara passed away 2 nights before
>He said he was sorry for not coming over and telling us because he was busy
>we apologize and shift the conversation
>we don't talk for long
>5 days later he comes over
>he only talks for 30 minutes and leaves
>we tried to still talk to him but he never wanted to talk
>1 year later he passes
>it took us a month to find out about it because we moved away
>me and my sister bake a pie every year of his death
Miss you man, hope to see you someday.

Wow, this is unironically the best poetry I've read on here. It's like I'm there with you guys, anon, are you published? If so, what mags/journals? You are so original, despite employing the often overused "stream of consciousness" style, you really make it work for you: good job!

I think essays are not discussed enough here.

When I read Dubliners I feel like I know and love Joyce. And when I write I badly rewrite Dubliners stories. I love Joyce so much, he's the best.
