Hello people. I'm working on a story, but find a lack of people to give me feedback on what I could add to make my story better. Is there a site I can use to where people anonymously read and give me constructive criticism, so my writing can be better? I would really enjoy the help, thanks in advance.

Many a year ago in high school, we were assigned to read a book. Been wracking my brain trying to remember the title, but can't.

From what i remember, it was modernish times. Some aliens come to earth. No one sees them for awhile. When someone eventually does, they look like the devil. There was something about the horribleness causing an echo that went back in time, and that's why we think devils look like devils, or something like that.

Horrible description, but i guess that's why i can't think of the title, heh.

Hey /lit/ i'm trying to think of a word but can't quite grasp it.An example of its definition is something like:
Lets say Person A asks for money from Person B and the reason for Person A needs money is because instead of spending his money on rent he insteads buys something distasteful or unlawful. So person B says "i'm not going to give you the money because it wouldn't mean i'm paying your rent,it would mean i'm paying for the unlawful thing."

Understand?so what am i thinking of?

New comer here, I'm usually on other boards so I don't know how you guys work. But I want to know if you guys can help me find a book? I read it a long time ago and I can't remember the title, and even though I have a pretty good idea of the plot, no amount of internet searching has helped at all.

So essentially, I'll probably only be able to find it if I ever manage to find another person who read it and can either remember the title, the author's name, or character names.

Can you guys help?

Hey /lit/ I have a few questions for you.

1) How many hours per day do you spend reading books for entertainment purposes? (or in a week if you don't read that much)
2) At what times do you usually do this?
3) Would you say that books are your main form of entertainment?
4) How long does it take you to finish a book on average?
5) How many books do you read per week/month/year? (specify own time period)
6) What is your favourite book?
7) What is your LEAST favourite book?
8) Do you think that eBooks will ever completely replace paper-based media?

What's that one short story about that family who obtains some kind of magical object that grants wishes but they are warned that they might not get their wishes exactly how they want to get them? i.e. the dad wishes for like 30 pieces of silver or something like that and their son ends up dying in some kind of company accident at work (maybe a mining accident?) and the owners of the company stop by and pay them 30 pieces of silver for the life insurance. I know that I probably have a lot of the details wrong but I do know that the concepts are right.

I have really been in the mood to read a good book lately, i haven't read many at all but i do really like reading if its something i really get into, i was wondering if /lit/ could help me find a good book to read. for some reason i cant really describe or figure out what i want in it, i enjoyed eragon and lord of the rings, but i dont want to read another fantasy, i also enjoyed that one book, i cant remember the name, it takes place in the future and the world was destroyed and you cant say "I" or anything like that and they make light in the sewers or some shit, and run away into the woods, you know. I like all different kinds of stuff, just no girly drama books that my girlfriend reads, yaknow? The rest of the books iv read and liked i cant remember the names, i wish i could so you guys could help me more. I like futuristic stuff, but not too sci-fi like. i like pirates but no corny, dumb pirate books. Im looking for something that can really catch my attention, and keep me wanting more. Well if i can think of any more details ill let you know, any and all suggestions welcome, thanks in advance /lit/ ! :)

Have you ever withheld a recommended for a book to someone who you think would like it just because you really enjoyed it?

I do this sometimes and I feel a little ashamed. When I read something I really connect with sometimes I don't want to share it with people close to me even if I think they would love it. I'm not entirely sure why, it sort of feels like watching a lover fall in love with someone else.

Hi guys, i need your help.

I've been writing short stories for quite some time as a hobby now and i feel like it's time to move on to something a little bigger.

I have a rough outline of the story in mind, but i'm having so much difficulty with details, i cannot start writing.

To give you an idea about the story;

- The story will start in France.
- It'll be some kind of a medieval road trip.
- The protagonist is a teen farmer boy, travelling eastwards all the way to Asia in search of his one love.

The story will be about a boy maturing into a man with new experiences in every corner of his adventure and of course, love.

The main problem i'm having is, i have never traveled out of my country, so i'm having difficulty deciding where in France to start my story and which geographical route to follow throughout it.

I have a few more questions about it, but i have no idea if anyone would be willing to help, so i'll just leave this here to see if anyone's interested.
