I have a problem where anything I write comes out abstract instead of concrete and vivid. Years of writing/reading in the hard sciences has destroyed my ability to write visually or describe using the senses.

Is there anyway I can improve? Are there any books that address this? Any particular masters of concrete writing that I can study? I've been watching BBC's old Shakespeare productions (a few of them are on youtube) and following along with a physical copy. I'm constantly amazed by Shakespeare's ability to conjure fantastic images from thin air, though I have no idea how he was able to do it (unreproducible genius, certainly, but part of it must also have been craft).

How do I deal with being a mediocre writer that will 100% never write anything great (or even good). How do I deal with having just enough insight and ability to know when something is good or bad (i.e to have preference) but not enough to create something good? How do I stop myself from wanting to write when the end result is always, always hot garbage?

How /lit/? How do you reconcile mediocrity with love?

>need to spend years of my life reading and studying thoughts and arguments in order to put my subjective experiences into some narrative I'm happy with

Why is reading such a meme? Is there a way out other than offing myself?
