When did rape become such a common scene in Fantasy? It is so far removed from the romanticism of Tolkien. This not to say that every fantasy needs to be Tolkienesque or can't contain rape in it, after all rape is not uncommon in world mythology where it carries symbolic weight, but some fantasy writers seem to fixate on it in a way that never amounts to anything more than a edgy seinen manga tier declaration of "Pssssh, welcome to the real world, kid".
