Any prerequisites I should read before reading Don Quixote?

Hi there fellas,

I'm the guy who promised to upload his pictures' folder earlier, sorry for the delay.
No idea if linking straight to the torrent will lead to issues with the mods, so just look on thepiratebay for "grebccvy", uploaded by b_hobbit; or hash F0EA176EEE44927649BCD29CDFFD90B3A257E388.
(Also, yes, I'm aware some of the pictures aren't paintings, and that there are lots of classics missing, and that the folder is a mess; no need to point that out)

Since the other thread hit the image limit, let's continue here and see if we can bring up some literature related pictures to discuss.

There's probably hundred of pictures based on the Quixote, but I've never found one that striked me the most as Picasso's version, it's simplicity translates so well the feeling of barrenness in the whole endeavour of the Quixote's quest that I can't help but be marvelled by looking at it and seeing how effective it is in giving an adequate atmosphere for such a huge novel with just a few lines.

I haven't read Don Quixote before, and was considering picking up Edith Grossman's translation. Good call, or would someone else's be better?

Minstrels latent on the prairies! 65
(Shrouded bards of other lands! you may sleep—you have done your work;)
Soon I hear you coming warbling, soon you rise and tramp amid us, Pioneers! O pioneers!

23

Not for delectations sweet;
Not the cushion and the slipper, not the peaceful and the studious;
Not the riches safe and palling, not for us the tame enjoyment, Pioneers! O pioneers! 70

24

Do the feasters gluttonous feast?
Do the corpulent sleepers sleep? have they lock’d and bolted doors?
Still be ours the diet hard, and the blanket on the ground, Pioneers! O pioneers!

25

Has the night descended?
Was the road of late so toilsome? did we stop discouraged, nodding on our way? 75
Yet a passing hour I yield you, in your tracks to pause oblivious, Pioneers! O pioneers!

26

Till with sound of trumpet,
Far, far off the day-break call—hark! how loud and clear I hear it wind;
Swift! to the head of the army!—swift! spring to your places, Pioneers! O pioneers.

--Walt Whitman, "Pioneers! O Pioneers!"
