This book is ok for recent critical theory things. Francois Dosse has a two-volume history of structuralism that is more like a gossip rag. Jay's Dialectical Enlightenment is good as a history of the Frankfurt School. Kolakowski's Main Currents of Marxism is good for a history of Marxism.

Sure there is, there are actual Marxists and poststructuralists who want to dissolve family structures and stuff for politico-theoretical reasons, and there are millions of rich faggy college kids who pretend to be into leftist activism by reading a few of these thinkers.
