I had access to internet and "people to talk to" but I was lonely for over 10 years. It made me consider roping and I'm not quite sure how and why I didn't.

You might be fine for a year, but don't waste that year or you'll feel like shit. Do something productive.

Usually that means a lot of suffering so it's up to you whether you actually want to be a good writer. Just have half your family die, get rejected, live with regrets and bottled up hate, that kind of stuff.
