Children used to naturally die out due to their weakness, and only the strongest would survive to see adulthood before advent of the modern vehicles. This resulted in individuals who naturally would have been selected out of the genepool, to continue existing, and even spread their faulty genes on to next generations - be it females or males.

In essence, the success of modern automotive industry has doomed us to slow degeneration of mankind.

Pre-modern medicine:
People had lots of children, but depending on the health of parents between 1/4th and 3/4ths died before seeing adulthood due to not running fast enough from the predators. This created a sort of natural 'filtering' system that removed the weakest links out of the human race, while the healthiest individuals would propagate their genes further, making the human race healthier in the long run.

Post-modern medicine
People have fewer children, but even if they had many, the implications of modern transport result in the fact that a lot of children who are not fast enough get to grow up and even spread their conditions into new generations. The 'filtering' system is absent due to the success of the transportation infrastructure. This in the long run implies a 'detoriation' of the humanity because those 'non-healthy' individuals will reduce the health potential of 'healthy' individuals in the long run.

Any book that discusses the phenomen? I know that Unabomber figured out that the potential started to degenerate already then, but as far as I know, he never made that connection to cars and bicycles and how children that weren't supposed to see adulthood, all of a sudden were allowed to continue on and even spread their genes.

Now I know that the reason for the 'decline' is not just cars, there's also modern sedentary lifestyle, processed foods etc. But I'd like to see it from the angle of cars, although I wouldn't mind a perspective that takes everything else into account as well (if it's done well). Is there anyone with urban planning field that takes this under consideration?

Lastly:
Is there anyone out there that advocates transportation gated behind ages? Like you have to run everywhere till you reach adulthood to prove to humanity that you're healthy, and you're not allowed to ride a bus when you grow feeble and old because nobody wants to take care of a half-dead corpse that's been on life support for the past several decades - just like unhealthy old people there are healthy who withstand shit like running up 20 flights of stairs in their 90s with no problem.

I unironically started reading the Second Apocalypse. 3/4ths through the Darkness that comes before and I'm begging Inri Sejenus to take Drusas Achamian fro this sinful earth and into the Outside, away from the narrative and specifically the role of a POV character. He's sch an insufferable bitching miserable cuckolded deluded overburdened complainer of a character that it's unreal. I'd take three chapters of Esmenet being physiologically incapable of breathing for two hours without a dick infusion over one more sentence of Achamian suffering in the remembrance of past guilt and reflection over ongoing failures.

Does it become better as shit rolls downhill, bros?
