I would agree with you, except for the fact that it`s so freaking inconvenient. I remember living in rural NSW when I was a kid and having to drive more than an hour each way to buy anything more than simple groceries.

Also because you are still in Australia, even rural housing prices and rent are getting ridiculous.

My personal experience at the moment, nothing beats countryside life in Japan.
