This was my favorite book when I was a kid, and the first "book" book that I ever read, after I stole it from my dad's bookshelf. Nearly every trope I love now stems from this book, and I used to lay in bed, reading it back to back, and dreaming about living in the treehouse, with all the animals. The spine fell off eventually, and I pasted it up with scotch tape. Years later, I read the original one, and it's even comfier. In fact, I'm gonna re-read it now.

My very first and very favorite book that I remember just grabbing out of my dad's library. I must have read it a hundred times, and just about everything I enjoy today finds very obvious roots in Swiss Family Robinson. When I read the original years later, I was surprised how different they were.

Somehow I was under the impression that books didn't have different versions the way movies did.

easy. The first novel I ever read. The 50s? disney version of Swiss Family Robinson. Literally 90% of my favorite book tropes can be traced back to that book. It was the first "book" I ever read, and the most important. God knows, I read it enough. I'd read it again tonight, if only I knew where the fuck it was. My most important book, and the one I NEVER know where the hell it is.

This. I found it in my dad's library when I was 6 or something. I read it front to back a dozen times, and it's influenced how and what I read, almost exclusively.

This. It's the first full length book I ever read.
I read it over and over and would stare for what felt like hours at the pictures, imagining what it'd be like... A book that really shows a kid what kind of amazing adventures he can have by reading.
