I'm glad you liked those bits. The florida part I just didn't want to come out and say because at this point I think some of these short stories take place in the same universe but some of them are like, normal places? There's not a whole lot of consistency with the alternative future of burgerpunk. I'm still kinda feeling it all out. I guess that's the point and what I've turned this into.

I've written about a character experiencing music a few times now, and maybe it's just me trying to explicitly detail and articulate that exact problem you point out of mixed signals that draws me to it. I want to use a different form of art to explain how another form of art evokes such interesting and raw emotionality.

I think your analysis is correct. I basically heard a song and imagined a zoomer acting in accordance to that song. Interesting though. Perhaps adding some more awkward actions and content to it would be useful to show how edgy the character thinks he is juxtaposed to how awkward he actually is. That feeling of being the main character when you have headphones in kinda deal.

And yeah, I didn't put four sentences of thought into what's on the VHS, but that's a perfect hero's journey lesson for the kid. Great idea. Thank u friend.

Is section 22 from 'The Pale King' (that long novella-like chapter about Chris Fogle having a religious conversion during an Advanced Tax course) Dave's Magnun Opus? I certainly think so.

I can't read Infinite Jest. I've read The Pale King, Brief Interviews, Broom of the System, every single published non-fiction essay and that stupid book about infinity (I like the subject by Dave was out of his element there). But IJ? I never make it past page 150 or something. I hate everyone, I hate his writing, I hate the whining drug addicts and depressive people. How should I approach this book, /lit/? You've been memeing it for ages and I want to finish this shit. How do I do it?
