You should read the Unabomber manifesto. It can actually be enlightening if you're legitimately open minded. It's the reason I'm not a liberal anymore(that and I hate feminism). I don't entirely agree with his luddism(even though it's a major part of his beliefs), but I do feel he is ultimately right.

You can't fault a culture for holding people to certain standards. Whether or not you agree with them, the thing that makes this practically uninhibited freedom we have possible is the social agreement to conform to certain norms.

It might not be explicitly illegal to go out with a load of shit in your underwear, nor is it "objectively" detrimental to anyone else's life, but we have social standards against it because people find it gross. There always needs to be a line drawn, and the problem with people these days is that they keep trying to move it further and further from where it was originally.
