An aside to all this: Cat in Abu Ghraib, &amp issue 005. To Lynndie England.

Any thoughts on this one? If it gets included I'm gonna make sure to include the tail and ears.

Yeah, I think the word count is going to decide a lot (bit of a mistake dropping the flash-fiction distinction, but maybe I'll make a jumpstart on transcription instead; page count is a little meaningless anyway for reasons already stated). In my head I sort of gave up on the idea of distinct chapters for categories and figured we should take a more granular, piece-by-piece approach to organisation: it's been expressed that some pieces would fit next to each other, but wouldn't stand on their own. That's a bit of a tougher endeavour, though I think it'd need to be done on some level regardless.

I still haven't given my personal vote for many of the pieces, so I might act as a sort of tie-breaker at some point. There are still a number of pieces--even on the starred list--that lack comments. Pic related, Cat in Abu Ghraib, is one that got multiple recommendations but no commentary. Maybe I'll go back again and revisit the threads/emails where these pieces were first put forward and gauge the enthusiasm there (those votes should count for as much as the commentary). Every starred piece technically has one more recommendation than it does stars, so that metric is a little misleading (takes two recs to get on that list, but only the second and later are noted).

There's also the challenge that good pieces might be polarising, but that depends on how the commentary is split. Anything dubious should probably be dropped.

Then my unfulfilled promise of screencapping starred pieces...would be good to get discussion going in-thread. Maybe I'll just do the contentious pieces or something. At first I blamed my not doing this on my work computer not having the same software I use at home, but the exact same tools are also online. Whoops.
