What did you all make of this? "Perplexed" describes my reaction pretty well. Has there ever been a protagonist as carefully written as Kohler? Is fascism the 'mid-life crisis' of an aging, morally repugnant society?

some of you have read this, how long did it take you?
I've been reading this for a while now and I have to say, what the fuck. It's like I read and read and read and the pages don't move.
I've read IJ, GR, V., Ulysses, and comparing the pace of all of those with the pace I'm having with The Tunnel I fucking flew by them, I'm going so slow with The Tunnel, and I'm enjoying reading it...not that I want to read fast necessarily, but did it take a lot of time for you to read this or is it me?

From those who have read this behemoth, could you share what you thought about it? From what Ive read about it it sounds like a sickening, disorienting dirge.
