Mechanistically, literature is the intelligible exercise pertinent to the author, the reader, and the interpreter as they logically labor throughout an oeuvre; one dimension of that labor, which will later be explained, is literary comparatism. The platonic retrogradation that was the protestant reformation, replaced literary interpretation for the acquiescence of sensible expressions. This retrogradation has its marks today where protestantized “gringo” elitists, emanating from semantic third worlds like the English language, obligate for their political and economic impulses to be: transcribed by the authors, self-inculcated by the readers, and regurgitated everywhere by the interpreters. Though unlike the 1500s, there is a diminished danger of being labeled “Catholic” and your life and property communalized between the rulers and the accuser.

This retrogradation has degraded and decayed all disciplines of philology, hermeneutics, and even the philosophies that were once compatible with reality. First, while the fallen status of humans became a pretext to incapacitate the articulation of reason, the illusion of independent interpretation took away the authority from the author. From there, under that self-deception of autonomy they called “independence”, the protestant elites would confer that taken authority among themselves and their representatives. This was the birth of modern subjectivity, for not only it made people wallow in their own subjectivity, but allowed the elites to enforce under the penalty of the law: a certain writing, a certain reading, and a certain interpretation of texts; and those texts had to conform with the sensibilities of that elite. This modern subjectivity now boasts that all literature is the same, while schizophrenically teaching comparative literature and other comparatist fields.
