Why read if you're only doing it to feed your ego? Pleasure maybe? But then pornography, videogames, now VR are all much more pleasurable. There's no point in reading when the endgame is achieving a petty sense of self importance.

I read about a book about a woman who was in Hell but Hell was being around other people.

Do you know what I'm talking about? It's not Sartre, the protagonist was definitely a woman and I'm almost certain it was a book, not a play.
