These threads are always shit. The trouble is that the /r9k/ retards are usually right, albeit in the wrong way.

The debate is almost entirely anecdotal. In my own experience, most of the women whom I encounter in life are stupid as fuck. Literal herd animals in the Nietzschean sense, with plebeian tastes. One of the few intelligent women I've ever met was one of my old hyper-feminist lecturers.

Most women don't deserve that much respect, putting it bluntly. The same goes for men too. With regard to both sexes, patricians are extremely rare, but female patricians are still much rarer. Women, for the most part, deserve little more than the basic courtesy which civilized society demands. If you are a man who devotes time and effort to his mind and body, you are well within your right to treat women as a means to your (sexual) ends. The same is true of some women too, though their standards are almost always much higher than they have a right to set.

Be an equal opportunities, albeit realistic, patrician. But remember, the best woman almost always exceeds the best man.

Picked up Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation. In the preface, he mentions that he wants you to read his essay "On the Fourfold Root of the Principal of Sufficient Reasoning" before reading TWWR. Is this really necessary, or can I just dive right in?

My issue is that I'm actually really good at hiding my power level. Too good:

>Dating some 7/10 girl, just want to get into her pants
>Stereotypical 'nerd' girl who likes Marvel/GoT/etc, and also a pretty shitty Xbox 'gamer'
>Lie about everything on our 1st date: Claim I like GoT, even though I never got past the 2nd book as it bored me to death and have never watched more than Series 1. Claim I like Marvel, even though I prefer DC for Man of Steel and a couple of Batman movies. Claim I like gaming, even though I only fuck around on WoW nowadays (ruining RP/etc)
>We go back to her place and fuck
>She actually seems into me, texts me daily
>Realize I'm being pursued by someone with whom I don't have anything in common, but can't stop lying about my interests for sex
>We end up dating, just because the sex is good
>This is still happening

And that, kids, is why a large part of my life is now devoted to the fucking Avengers/etc. In my spare time, or rather, reality, I actually read Plato/Nietzsche/Schopenhauer/Hegel/etc, alongside Goethe/Ibsen and others, but I never bring this up because modern plebeians don't know who these people are and would probably be triggered if they did (or knew what some of them wrote).

I should just cut it off.

You mean "Knee-chuh".

And what happened in Turin in no way contradicts his philosophy. If anything, I wouldn't even look at it philosophically - his sanity was coming to an end, and trying to combine philosophy and psychiatry gives you psychoanalytic bullshit.

If you REALLY want to postulate a 'why', then you should look to Nietzsche's youth. Prior to the injury that left him weakened for life, he was one of the Prussian army's most up and coming horseback infantrymen. He'd have had to develop a remarkably close bond to his horse in order to do that well, and so the sight of a horse being flogged by some dumbass peasant would have probably driven his maddened self over the edge.

Friend of mine is 20 and wanted me to start reading Percy Jackson. He's rereading Harry Potter now. I told him that at his age he should try reading something a 13 year old girl wouldnt also read. He said that I read some Aristotle at that age and I told him that wasn't the point. I highlighted the difference between someone say reading The World as Will and Representation and him reading Harry Potter or Maze Runner. He said he didn't care for dry philosophy or that adult fiction was too adult cause it would mention boring things like taxes.
He then stated that Harry Potter redefined a genre and that it's popularity points to it's excellence. I told him about the law of large numbers and that popularity can also mean mediocrity. He's always been a bit of a follow-the-crowd kind of guy so he wouldn't concede there.

I know I should allow him to read what he wants, but the dude hasn't read anything that isn't YA in like two years.
Anyone go through something similar?

What do you live for in the first place? Nothing satisfies me. Is meaningless the only way it can go? Even if there was a God who made the universe for a goal you could just deny it. What's the point if I'm going to die anyway? What if I lived forever though, what would I do after accomplishing all my goals? Would I just keep making more? Anyone got reading on this? Didn't Schopenhauer say something about how goals just lead to wanting more and more?
