I implore you to to listen to this reading of the Book of Ecclesiastics.

It's a very comfy audio version with a good voice.
Yes it's from the Bible, but it's merit is precisely in what you're talking about. It was written by Solomon the Wise, he had access to all the ancient literature and spoke with priests and magicians from their kingdoms.
His conclusion was that everything is meaningless. He's addressing the exact problem you have and is completely relevant to the OP.

Tell me what you think if you do listen to it.

18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

King Solomon has the most simple wisdom to give. I recommend everyone read the Book of Ecclesiastes. If you were non the wiser you could easily think the book came from some admirable and sensible teacher from the far east. It transcends doctrine and dogma and speaks honestly. He reigned in peace, he was loved, and he spoke to all the preists, magicians, and mystics of far off lands who came to Jerusalem. He read and understood the great texts and teachings of ancient kingdoms that are now lost. And his conclusion was that nothing makes sense. He also had 1000 wives which is pretty based if you ask me.

I don't care who elliot bowed to. And reading baudelaire wasn't exceptional. He's alright. I'm not saying he wasn't an important poet, but he's not in some unattainable league.
