Can someone give me a distinct description of how philosophy and science are different? I've often heard philosophy described as the "search for truth" or an attempt to "understand the world." Isn't that just what science is?

Aristotle studied marine biology. Ben Franklin studied electricity. René Descartes studied astronomy and math. Can't you just argue that their so-called "philosophical" works were just an extension of their scientific pursuits?
