I'm about to finish this book tonight, so I figured I'd start a thread now. Anyone wanna talk about Frank Cauldhame? Was he a monster? Is he completely a product of circumstance?

so what was the point of this story? Seemed to me like somebody just wanted to write a fucked up book with a fucked up twist in the end then decided to tack on some bullshit about never being to sure about your view of the world or even yourself (seriously this works with every twist-ending)

So why is this world-renown literature? Is it because of its controversial nature? The feminist undertones? Tell me!

The title is idiotic. The wasp factory has little to nothing to do with the book 99% of the time.

The build up to his brother coming home ended in nothing. 3 paragraphs of nothing, and then an aside to explain what happened to Frank, and then the end.

Are you kidding me? How did this book ever get popular? It's probably the most over rated book I've ever read.

It showed a lot of promise until the terribly written ending.

Hey /lit/, have any of you read this book? If so, can you recommend any other books similar to it i.e. creepy and/or disturbing

Didn't like The Shining much.

However this post reminded me to re-read The Wasp Factory. Appreciated.

I guess this qualifies.

Is this book as fucked up as people say it is?
