i want to be able to interpret and review works on my own accord, not seek out other people's thoughts on them in order to form my opinion. the problem is i don't actually think deeply when i'm reading. i just kind of take what the author is saying as gospel unless i absolutely know for sure they're wrong about something. it's the same thing with movies too - i have to watch analysis videos and read articles before i understand what the hell is going on. does anyone have any advice for me? do i just keep plugging away at reading until it finally starts clicking?

ITT: Personal 10/10s.

Whether it's a popular classic or a book nobody has heard of before, share with us your personal best in literature and why it resonates so much with you.

(will post one of my favourites in the next post)

> submit finished writing to competitions and re-draft unfinished work
> finished university with a good degree

> I've composed music for a short horror film, directed a couple music videos and experimental films and have now found work at one of britbong's leading production companies in a writers room

feels good that hard work pays off

Personal 10/10s thread. Which books - fiction or non-fiction - are just perfect in your eyes? It doesn't matter if it's a popular classic or if it's a book it seems you've only read and it's pulpy as fuck, let's just vent about our favourite books and reading experiences.

(Going to post one of my 10/10s in my next post)
