Hey anons, person who goes on those giant Infodumps on Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) history on a few boards here.

I want to learn Spanish to be able to read more primary sources, since many aren't in english, but since i'd be primarily reading 16th and 17th century documents or modern academic papers i'm concerned the average Spanish class or course wouldn't nessscarily be useful since I imagine the language has changed a lot in 500 years and that the words and general formatting of academic papers in the language from Mexico doesn't always match everyday parlance.

Anybody have input or suggestions? There's got to be SOME anons here who read centuries old Spanish literature here who could give me some input.

Thanks in advance.
