You know reading philosophy makes you look like a dumb nigger, right? Like you're just sitting down and unironically reading one thread of the same thought for like 800 pages and you seriously think it makes you sound smart when all it really does is prove you have literally no imagination and can't read for the value of the literature itself. Regular literature has plenty of thoughts and concepts that are higher than in classic philosophy and displayed through characters and if you can't pick that up outside a flavorless textbook with the same shit the whole way through.

I have done speed reading before in the past,

You can "fill in" what's going on in a book by scanning the page and sometimes even skipping whole chunks. This is what I did for every book I needed to read in college.

First of all, the information like goes away right after you do it. You "learn things" by encoding them over time. You're more likely to retain something that you stuck on and enjoyed than something you powered through. Secondly, it's exhausting sometimes I want to read for fun. I like the pictures I get, skipping back to get all the info I can, etc. It gives me time to rest. Lastly, I get more information overall when I don't spreed, because you are in fact skipping over huge chunks and continuing on even when unsure about the context while you're spreeding. The objective is basically to hate-fuck a book for an hour and then write a shitty essay on it for lit class.
