Why were there only four/six classic novels in the entire Chinese pre-modern history? If they came up with novel genre once, why not produce novels in quantity, especially given that pre-modern China had always had enough literate people (le legendary chinese bureaucrats). Why are there such gigantic gaps between those 4/6 classics works of fiction over the course of the 3000 years of Chinese history? Shouldn't they have had much more writers and novels or at least some lists with currently non-extant works (like the ones we have about Greek and Roman literature)?

I watched on youtube a lecture by some ADHD professor man and he said people with ADHD lack internal monologue or develop it a lot later in life than normal people. Without the internal monologue they have no hindsight and with no hindsight they also develop no foresight. So they live in the moment and are prone to antisocial behaviour.

He also said that it's a serious condition that should be taken seriously, with the exception of collage aged people, because they tend to fake it in order to get drugs for the exams.

So, my question to you ADHD people. Are you literal retards with AIDS, drug abuse and teen pregnancy, or are you more like people who "couldn't concetrate in school" and got doping for it?

>I started 3 years ago, but I spent around half of this time reading.
I started 2 years ago but I really lost track of wtf was going in volume 3, "Le Côté de Guermantes". I hardly read anything of it now and go long periods of time without reading. It's also in French and it's not my first language. Do you think I should give it another go? I could honestly not tell you what the book is about rn, last thing I remember is young Marcel's oneitis and his grandmother letting him drink while travelling bc of his poor health but it's a difficult book all right god.

How do value judgements work? In the context of moral philosophy or meta-ethics.

Say in the case how someone "should" act, or how they "ought" to act. If I claimed someone was being arrogant or egotistical, is there an objective way to claim that within the context of the situation? Or is it purely subjective? Would I just be claiming that out of emotion?

If I said:
>doing [this action] is wrong
Is that just an emotional statement? Because it's a personal judgement based on my own beliefs. Does it have any value? Does it truly add anything to the conversation?

Not really understanding the is-ought problem for situations like this. I'm familiar with the categorical imperative but want to hear your thoughts
