"Number" is only a common noun when referring to arithmetical values. When referring to a subject such as "people", it's treated as plural. It can also be an indefinite pronoun ("Some").

For example:

"The number is likely to rise" - Common noun, grammatically correct

"There are still a number of toads under the shed" plural, grammatically correct.

"There is still a number of weeds to remove" Is grammatically incorrect.

"There are a vast number of people who..." is grammatically correct.

The advent of the Plural Singular.

When referring to an object, if there is only (1) visible object, and multiple hidden objects, you acknowledge those objects by saying "Those/These (singular object)"
Ex: "Hey, look at those person over there!" "Man, look at these awesome keyboard I have."

If the object is far away, dissociated from you, or otherwise not yours, you use "Those".
If the object is close to you, closely associated with you, or otherwise your own, you use "These".

It is used from a single-person perspective, where any number of people is treated as a single entity. No subjects change when using this.
Ex: "We can see those cat." "Can you see these jar?"

If there is more than (1) visible object, the rule no longer applies, and the hidden objects become irrelevant.

Remember to stay up-to-date on your grammar.

Being one of those men, I can fully attest to the validity of this post. In fact, I pretend to be a woman so much that, if you have 10 "women" you chat with on the net, I am 7 of them. Though I usually prefer to chat with other "women", I've branched out because I'm a creep. I try to justify this obsession by telling myself that it's making me a better writer, but it's also turning me into a recluse with no qtgf. But maybe I can be a cautionary tale and keep you from making the same mistake.

My Tips For Those Who Want To Be Cool Like Me:
>Know your biology! Women have strange, terrifying biological functions and, if you run into another "woman" who sees cracks in your visage, they will sense weakness and close in for the kill.
>Know pantyhose sizes and what size your particular body type would wear (see above for why). Which brings me to the third rule....
>Have a realistic description of your "body". An average or even mildly unattractive woman is far more likely to be on the net than a 10/10 wouldbang supermodel.
>Learn how to type, jerk. If you see a first message like "hai, i am woman want to sex chat?" then it's a red flag sent up on a signal flare that you're actually talking to a man. If you make the chat more easy on the brain, your prey will be more inclined to believe you.
>Be well spoken but not too "smart". This ties in heavily with the rule before it, but it deserves it's own mention. Like it or not, a smart, sexy woman is just not something you're likely to find in a chat room (or ever), so if you have Shakespeare, physics books and other such things piled up just waiting to be read while you wait for replies, keep it to yourself.
>People will deceive themselves if you just follow these rules. Self delusion is the best kind.

Smørbrød. Smørrebrød is Danish. And smörgås is Swedish.
As for Norwegian literature, I find Tomas Espedal interesting. You can find an English sample of one of his books here: http://eng.gyldendal.no/Fiction/Novels/Imot-naturen/

Counterpoint:

Women hate women. Not like a misogynist male hates women, but in a more intense and instinctual way totally independent of life experience. I cannot prove that ALL women hate other women, but we all know at least one.

Communism doesn't work in either theory of practice because, contrary to its intent, common ownership leads to the destruction of production and the creation of social classes. Anyone with half a brain can look at the 20th century an clearly see this.

The only so-called "Marxists" left today are simply people who suffer from narcissistic personality disorder and are obsessed with validating their identity through politics. See: http://thelastpsychiatrist.com/2011/09/finding_existential_solace_in.html

As for the ending...It's clear some of you don't understand the analogy or the metaphor. I could spell it out, and perhaps prove how exciting the novel really is. However, I will leave it at this. Just remember. This is not a simple novel. this is not a fun novel. It is a exposition on humanity. Salinger spent an enormous amount of time on Catcher, and every single word is there for a reason.

That is all I have to say.

Last time I checked, this was aimed towards scene kids. I think you meant WeSC headphones.
>Vinyl versions of digitally recorded albums (LOL)
This is where your prejudice and ignorance shows most. Apparently you aren't aware that normal CD's are limited to a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and a bit depth of 16 bit, since vinyl is completely analog, it lacks these data limits. Since all professional audio recording is done at a multitude of 44.1 kHz (generally 176.4 kHz or higher) and usually also at 24 bit, vinyl is theoretically more suited as a high-definition audio carrier than plain CD's, even when everything was recorded and mixed digitally.

Remember kids, Sage doesn't hurt a thread it merely doesn't bump it! It is used to comment when you don't wish to bring the topic to the top of the page. If you are going to sage at least post with a criticism!
