Which books deal with man's propensity towards violence and destruction? I'm looking for something like Freud's Civilization and Its Discontents.

The thing is, any population that abdicates from the technological 'arms race' will be at the mercy of those that don't. So we either find some non-dystopic way of reconciling with technology, or the genie is out of the bottle and the ride never ends.

If I don't acknowledge it then it must not exist. Stoicism is just a cope with people thinking that they are better than their emotions. It also fits into our societal context that you should shut up and suffer rather than getting revenge.
