I usually skip the few chapters before the inciting incident, skip all the chapters until the darkest hour, and then read the finale. Your brain can fill in the gaps.

I've noticed from watching anime that the Japanese seem to use a preposterous amount of loan-words from English. I'm not sure if that's just an anime thing though. But it gives me the impression the Japanese language has an exceptionally limited vocabulary and is not suited to adaptation. Whenever I hear a Japafied english word, I just assume they didn't have a word for that thing in their own language. For example, hearing a character say "ideorogy" when the caption says ideology. Is there a normal Japanese word for ideology? Why wouldn't they just use that instead? This phenomenon does not seem to apply to the chinese
