Just as long as we’re dumping the whole hierarchal structure too. Full co-op WSDE style syndicalism is a good start. But the wealthy class will, as they are now, actively trying to squelch it. It’s only a start.

Yeah, already answered that.

So you think authoritarians will want to join a direct democracy and take power and when they can’t that’s somehow a failure of democracy?

That is what you’re making a case for. We have long histories of authoritarians running things, and they’ll continue to coral people into their differing forms of government, but we shouldn’t expect anything different. Places that have traditions of calling themselves democratic need to try actual democracy.

Why? Marxist analysis is crucial for understanding class dynamics, don't see why you would try to explicitly distance yourself from that.
Richard Wolffs book Democracy At Work is probably what you want, but then again he's a marxian economist.

Yes they hold up. An easier introduction to Marxian ideas is through Richard Wolff, writing or videos all very available online of course.

I’ve been wondering the same thing for a few years now. Reading about solutions and working backwards to a round level. Many of us are stuck in some old fashioned ideas of supporting progressives of the DSA, or joining a union, or tryin to revitalize the IWW. Maybe all that’s helpful. But besides reading Cockshott’s Towards a New Socialism and Wolff’s Democracy at work, I’m thinking of how to get a whole community to essentially become preppers

Yes, violence. Because twitboys demand blood. Kill yourselves now, you are outnumbered.

It was a state run capitalist country. With certain aspects of socialism, just like the rest of Europe. Socialism Lite, if you will. I’ve never defended it, Stalin or Beria, but that doesn’t excuse Gulag Archipelagos lies. Get your head out of the Cold War propaganda, burger.

Good post. I mostly agree. Bourgeois attempts at being socialists are always corrupted. At best they like soc-dem reformism.

I’m being completely honest. People can be easily taught to bare the burden of self reliance. What is this bitching about poor people undercutting wages? The employers set the wages. That’s capitalism’s fault.
We need stronger stuff than simple unionism, we need a world of co-ops and syndicates. Democracy in the workplace would lead to communities that looked after their own governance. If some don’t have a head for it, they’ll keep out of it.
I do tend to describe the generation after that implements these reforms, so maybe you misunderstood me, or actual “human nature”

Recommend this book in another thread. It’s simple enough
