I've been reading Lolita and the idea of enjoying prose has clicked, sometimes I've been rereading paragraphs not because I missed something but just because it was so enjoyable to read. Until then I preferred books like Catch-22 and CITR with less verbose prose. Should I reread The Great Gatsby (didn't really do much for me except for the idea of throwing huge parties just so one thot would show up, but people always talk about the prose) and Portrait of the Artist... (I didn't remember much from it except Stephen getting beaten for not having his glasses, him arguing about who the greatest poet is and the bit where the priest describes hell that even then I thought was god-tier)
