A library is a tool, a resource, not merely a place where you put books after you've read them. It's completely fine to buy books that you're interested in even though you haven't got the time or energy to read them in the moment, because they will be readily available once you do want to read them. The fact that she sees the library as merely a glorified storage space for books once they've been consumed and the fact that she can't conceive that one might want to have a more personal relation with texts reveals that she is the one whose mind has been completely been swallowed by the utilitarian, consumerist logic of late capitalism. Her moralizing tone is also extremely annoying.
