Not OP, but I went to law school. I like jurisprudence and statutory construction. Roman law's influence is still with us today. Their civil form of law, as opposed to common law, influenced Napoleon, which in turn influenced the law in Louisiana, which has a weird fuckin' mixture of civil and common law because of how it developed. Adoption of any statute of codification of law is, in part, because of roman law. Even the hammurabi code is an interesting read, to see what threads are consistent in what laws are used for. No, it doesn't directly effect the cases I work on at my job, but historical context in any field is important in how you tackle problems and improves your abilities in practice on a more conceptual level. Oldfag since 05 here. It wasn't elitism, it was simply user growth. The idea that GETs no longer define memes for years, and the fact is that DUBS are a sick ironic parody of the original GET culture from back then.
