I actually am a writer. I'm a poet, too. I've been writing in some form or fashion since I was a kid. It really took off in middle school when I started writing fanfiction on message boards. I progressed from there into original fiction, and in the last few years I've also progressed into writing poetry again after a long way away, including narrative poetry.

I've gotten several poems and short stories published, but I'm hardly a household name. I'm currently working on a very big story told in a mixture of prose and verse. If I do it right it will be a major work of literature. The first book is finished and I'm searching for an agent or a small press, though I've given some thought to self-publishing. I'm actively editing the second book right now.

I am in graduate school, so I make some of my living off of student loans. My family is also relatively wealthy. The upshot of this is that I don't have to hold a steady job, and so I've got a lot of free time to write. More than write, my mind is free to wander and to have ideas, which I've found has been vital to the progression of the story and the building of characters.

I'm currently editing the second book in my big sci-fi story. Then when the editing is done (though I'll edit even more after that, here and there), I'm going to write a short story that continues the broader story. Then, when the short story is done, I'll start the third book.

I've been in contact with a small press over getting the first book published. I've also sent out a bunch of query letters to literary agents, most of which have been returned in the negative. But I got a few interesting bites here and there, including one agent/manager who invited me to query him again in the spring. I also have a physical query letter out to a small press that I haven't heard back from yet.

Things are moving forward. I'm going to bring this great work into the world. I've already written almost 260,000 words and I'm just getting started.

After reading more of Outsphere, it's actually pleasant. It's still badly written with simplistic syntax and too much repetition, and the author really wants you to know EXACTLY how the characters feel at any given moment.
BUT it's somehow comfy, it's easy to read and feels like the backdrop of a sci fi tabletop RPG, with psychic humans, a colony that grows and adapts to a new world, hordes of primitive aliens attacking the settlements and ancient alium ruins doing weird shit.
After reading more challenging books, it's a nice change of pace.

Where is she from in the States? Her accent sounds strange, kind of Southern-y

She's so sweet and innocent, I think I'm in love lads.

I haven't read many of those but the one's I did read were really good. I still haven't read entry level classics like Crime and Punishment or 100YoS. Also Joan Didion's book Play it as it Lays is really good.

ITT: We solve the problem of infinite regress.

Bonus points: Solve epistemology.

>tfw writing about a sudden and violent murder your protagonist commits
>tfw it gives you an erection

Now I know why George RR Martin makes everything so violent, it's actually fairly arousing to write. I bet when he's working on a book the fat fuck is erect 24/7.
