Do any of you happen to have any recommendations for books on art history? Preferably something with visual examples but still detailed enough to be worth reading. Also, as I don't know where else to ask this question, so I'll go ahead and ask it here: Are there any useful, curated websites that allow you to view high res art? Google Arts & History is useful to a certain degree but terribly flawed.

"Thinking is still a form of acting. Only in sheer reverie, where nothing
active intervenes and even our self-awareness gets stuck in the mud –
only there, in this warm and damp state of non-being, can total
renunciation of action be achieved.
To stop trying to understand, to stop analysing… To see ourselves as
we see nature, to view our impressions as we view a field – that is true
wisdom."
- Fernando Pessoa

>Kind of avant-garde right?

More like a poetic Schopenhauer.
It's a book that deals with emptiness and the indifference toward external things, society, laws and etc. It's basically a diary written in a poetic way.

Here some of his quotes:

"Everything in our activities that we hold to be superior participates in
death and is death. What are ideals but an admission that life is
worthless? What is art but the negation of life? A statue is a dead body,
chiselled to capture death in incorruptible matter. Pleasure itself, which
seems to be an immersion in life, is in fact an immersion in ourselves, a
destruction of the relations between us and life, an excited shadow of
death."

If you hate women, you have a problem.
I've had wonderful moments with women. You just gotta understand them. Yes, they're irrational, they're inferior in many aspects, yes they're purely sexual beings, but once you accept their flaws, you can have a wonderful time with them. I prefer talking to women than to men, because there's always some sexual tension around. And by women, I mean beautiful women. I don't hang out with ugly women. I don't even know why ugly women exist. They're good for nothing.
Hating on women for being women is like hating dogs for being dogs.

I think Nietzsche, just like Camus, is a great writer but a shtty philosopher. I much prefer Mr. Schopenhauer.
