Happiness is a modern phenomena for consumption by the masses.
The ultimate purpose is to create citizens who obey, and consume. This happiness derives its worth from material consumption, it is a self-perpetuating model.
Paradoxically depression (or unhappiness) legitimises and perpetuates the model further, as it often fails to depart from the material conditions that lie behind the illusion of happiness, and therefore depression.
Our entire concept of happiness is a construct of consumer driven global capitalist ideology,
as well as a specific set of material conditions (pursuit of happiness, have/havenots, property worship seen as material deliverance etc).

In the entire recorded literary history of man few have given a shit about happiness as a means to an end, the ancient world all through the middle ages such an asinine notion never took hold.
Happines... it is unachievable, it barely exists, perhaps relatively, but once again that requires material human suffering to juxtapose oneself against.
Instead I would recommend temperence, justice, wisdom, courage, faith, hope, charity.

Also just go for peppy church girls once they marry you they won't leave, they'll shoot out kids, all women talk a load of rubbish so it doesn't matter beyond that she won't leave you.
I can't guarantee you happiness though, you are more likely to turn a ho into a housewife, and you'd still probably not be 'happy'.

I remember that. I wasn't even aware there'd been a resurgence in Diogenes' popularity, but then I don't use Twitter or Reddit. Don't even look at the news anymore, much better off for it.

What a silly question when you only give those three as the options.

From what I understand Burton Russel says it’s that everything is a creation of the mind
Haven’t read any German idealist but that’s my pleb answer because it seems no one else has one
