I find this name very ugly. Perhaps it's because when I was a child a neighbour-- to be sure a very round, swarthy man with a giant mole on his face--had the name. I couldn't place him, but by his earwax-picking, the saliva sputtering from his lips when he spoke, the sweatstained sheer short-sleeved button up shirts disclosing hairy chest and inky nips the size of baseballs, he gave me an impression I could only describe as in my vague childlike assemblage as 'Hungarian.' When I found out he was Dutch I was taken aback, nearly knocked on my ass clutching my chest like Fred Sanford pretending to have a heart attack. The Dutch, the tall, blonde speedskating Olympians, PhDs in the sciences and business, delicate lace-weaving tulip-tending fingers---shattered.
