While the prison arc was the best part of the story, I also liked the later portions where Dantes is introduced into the society a lot, there was a lot of closure and it was a real page turner. I would say keep on and you won't be disappointed. Also I was reading an old version from Project Gutenberg with lots of illustrations, and that might have played a part, but I really loved reading this book.

I am a luddite myself, but even I primarily read ebooks, buying physical copies only of those that I wish to collect. All arguments like "oof pressing the buttons is too much work" are just plain stupid, this technology is the equivalent of the printing press for our times, I have read such medieval and early modern works finding which in physical form would have been very difficult, and expensive as well, and unlike as from a library, I have these books with me forever, and unlike physical books, I get them for absolutely zero money. Also I have read books illustrated with good old illustrators like Dore, which wouldn't have been possible for me otherwise, either because of difficulty in finding the suitable editions, or their being too expensive. Your arguments against ereaders are the modern equivalent of "I could never read printed books, I always want my books to be unique, with the thought that a scribe spent so many hours hunched over in candle light just to prepare this volume for me", or "lmao look at that poorfag reading that mass produced printed book, that's what separates them from us patricians".

Pic related had hundreds of illustrations from 19th century that made reading it quite a wonderful experience. The Don Quixote on PG has amazing illustrations to by Gustave Dore, from 1850s. What are some other books that have antique illustrations and that I can read on my ereader?
