Does Forest Anon still post in lit? I watched a bunch of his videos and he always brings this board up. I don't understand how he can live. It makes me think it's a government psyop to get 4chan retards to go kill themselves in the forest. Are they trying to make more Ted kaczynski's? I just wrote his manifesto and it was quite based. I've been infected by his mind virus.

Still waiting on you to provide a single example of one of St. Irenaeus' arguments, and your refutation to it. Of course, you won't - because you are spiritually dead, and not well-read.

>>19055043
Exactly what I said: "they are spiritually impotent escapists, who delude themselves into thinking they are superior through peddling "hidden knowledge" that everybody with discernment rightly evaluated as a fruitless distraction".

>>19055045
>why should they feel threatened about some worldly faggot having "accomplished" things in the world?
It's actually quite sad that you don't realize how objectively inferior you are to that man in every single way, and yet you call him a "worldly faggot". This is a man who was more deeply ascetic than any gnostic, and more mystic than all of your LARPers combined. Such a lack of self-awareness is very sad.
>as divorced from Jesus' teachings as you can possibly get
Why did the people closest to Jesus, such as His apostles, their disciples, and their disciples disciples, all reject gnosticism?

>gnosCHADS realize their inner star
Yes, reject your people, goyim. Run away into yourself seeking pretty lights, and effect no change - you have finally found a way to spiritually rationalize your own inadequacy and impotence, and hide your cowardice with a veil of words in a language you do not speak.

>essence of God: being per se, goodness per se, truth per se, beauty per se
>creation of Adam: allowing a creature to partake in being (through giving life, and allowing humanity to give life), allowing a creature to partake in goodness (through giving abundantly through His grace, allowing humanity to choose goodness through free-will), allowing a creature to partake in truth (through giving a rational mind, and allowing humanity to come to truth by the rational mind interacting with Logos), allowing the creature to partake in beauty (through giving humanity a beautiful form, and allowing humanity to be capable of creating beauty)

I haven't come across a good argument as to why I should reject theistic evolution in favour of some other position.

>If evil did not possess its own causality, then how can one make artwork of pure evil?
One cannot make artwork of pure evil.
>If you study malevolent or disturbing artwork, you will see it has qualities that distinguish it from more benign artwork.
Even works of art perceived as malevolent or disturbing are not "evil". Insofar as they have existence, they are good - but even beyond that, one can look at two disturbing works of art, and grade them in degrees, saying one is "better", or "more good" than the other, whether this is based in artistic skill, use of colour to evoke emotion, etc.
Further, what distinguishes an artwork it as more "disturbing" are simply privations of good/beauty - a lack of symmetry (the basis of beauty), depicting an event which portrays an event lacking good, etc.

>argument from emotion
Again, not an argument. Please provide something rational for me to go off of, or else just stop wasting space in the thread.

>An omnipotent god could've designed free will in a way that would've made it impossible for non-good actions to be performed
Are you implying that free-will would still be free-will if there was no freedom to perform a certain subset of actions? What exactly would prevent one from doing a "non-good" action, then, if the entity had free-will? Would you truly consider it free-will if you could not freely do something within your power to do?
>An omnipotent god could've
How do you know what an omnipotent God could have or should have done, when you have the limited intelligence of a human being? How do you know that we are not in the best of all possible worlds, as Leibniz said?

>>18814152
>SOME totally deprived things NEVER perform Evil acts, SOME totally deprived things ALWAYS perform Evil acts
Nothing exists which is totally deprived from the good, and evil acts do not exist (it is more accurate to say "less-good acts").
>>18814153
>God contains the cause & possibilities of freedom latent within Himself
Insofar as He gave us free-will, yes.
>and is therefore indirectly responsible for Evil
Just as one's mother would be "indirectly responsible" for their son committing rape, yes. This does not mean that mother is the author or efficient cause of the rape, though.

Your argument is illogical. For example, using your logic:
1) Socrates is a man.
2) Aristotle is a man.
3) Therefore, Socrates is Aristotle.
Is true. Please work on your argument, to make it coherent.

Somewhat. Studied Philosophy and CS and couldn't find a decent job. Went on to study for an MSc in CS while working on specific skills currently in demand (I am to blame that I didn't learn programming to meet industry demands; I did just enough to complete the practice/lab works). While doing so I was starting to panic: NO JOBS! They all ask for 3-5 years of experience. I'm 27 already and I don't even care for CS, would rather be a writer.

I then let go from high expectations and applied for night shifts in elderly care. It pays the bills, it doesn't conflict with my uni lectures (I am still studying), I'll finish the degree and if I don't get a job I'll just continue to do elderly care and write/read in my afree time. This lifestyle won't attract a woman, but I'm free from worry and panic now.

Don't take things too seriously. If your parents are disappointed in you it's because tehy love bragging more than you. They hate having a loser son, but it really doesn't matter so much when you live for literature.
