Hello fellow gentleanons
I come before you to share one of my works so you might correct it, improve it, appreciate it or utterly despise it.

Anyway, here's the poem, do note I wrote two versions, one in glorious French and this one in the fantastical British tongue:

Did you see that ship that rolled in today?
O did you see her baggy sails?
Down to the port, down to the quay…
Running for the gales?
She was carrying the dreams like a dove
Did you see her glide across the waves?
Much like of the birds flying above
So mighty, rolling down, down through clouds of haze
Are you far from home and aloof?
Lost on a speck on the sea, lost away…
As am I the fool dancing on the roof?
On the ship rolling down to the port, down to the quay…
When you saw that ship what did you think?
Did you dream of the furthest land?
O did you want this sea as your only ink?
Or perhaps you only wished for warmer sand
Halas you are too late, she departed
It took you too long, a day doesn’t last
You didn’t wake up, now this is it
We will never climb her masts
For I have been on this ship, and landed here
Just to tell you as you cry down and lay
We’ll have to swim I fear
Down from the port, down from the quay…
