completely wrong. society ascribes value to twitter likes, and so we could say that they are a status symbol, not unlike a big mansion or a mercedes-benz. similarly, this is represented quite literally on facebook, wherein you make a "status" and people acknowledge your "status" with the likes that they give you, a real-time appraisal of your social worth, a kelly blue book style evaluation of your social standing, in a word - social currency.

the (you) is nothing like this. it is not tied to a person at all. a person gets likes on twitter or facebook - a person cannot get a (you). only an idea can get a (you). the pleasure of getting a single (you) is far greater than the pleasure of getting any number of likes on twitter, because in order to get one, your post actually has to be valuable. you don't get (you)'s because of your fame or your big ass, you get it for something that you genuinely created, or at least propagated. ironically, a like is the applause of the distant, unknown spectator; a (you), the approving smile of a friend.

I want to write fiction about conjoined people, but I am afraid this is too fucked up for normal people and I'll be treated as that weirdo who wrote stories about conjoined people.

I do feel both are equaly valid as human archetypes, but both romance novels and the novels written by males tend to not showcase the other sex properly, like males written by females are not real males and the females are just males with vagene.
