Even if you do not believe in the spiritual realm, you cannot deny that it is superior to the material realm --- that is to say, that the spiritual cannot originate in the material and that the material, can only, at best, be a transmitter-conduit for the spiritual. That is also to say, that man cannot have originated in the material as an animal, but instead has descended into materiality from a spiritual estate. Beast cannot become man, but man can become degenerated into a beastly existence. Schuwaller De Lubicz describes man as the "fixed point," a form of life between spirit and matter in his book Nature Word. I recommend you read it.
