How do you guys think pic related holds up to other Pynchon? I've only done GR, CL49 and his short stories.

Not nearly as cryptic or intricate as Gravity's Rainbow but definitely still packs a punch with it's prose. Plus, the character's are less cutout-like - I connected with them a lot more.

Describe the plot of a novel you havent read judging it solely by the cover.

I think I'm missing something.

I loved Inherent Vice. It instantly became one of my favorite novels after I read it, but the ending keeps nagging at me. It's a little too neat. Everything wrapped up, good guys rewarded and bad guys punished. Doc continues to be Doc and Bigfoot continues to be Bigfoot.

And not like I was anticipating a downer ending or anything as it wouldn't be appropriate to the narrative, but it's the title that keeps catching me, that makes me wonder if I'm missing something.

Everything worked out in the end, Doc saved the day and is a genuinely good guy who has a net positive influence on the world.

How many faps to his own words do you think he had writing this?

if not, what should i read instead?

Why do people here hate this?

Is it any good? Seems like an interesting plot, but do I need to start with earlier pynchon? I also read that Gaddis' work had some influence on this, should I read recognitions first?

Could it be possible for a book to incorporate sound?

In my dream I was reading Inherent Vice, but it had a built-in soundtrack of rock hits and lounge music that started playing when you turned to a certain page
