The vast majority of anime is garbage but it sucks that when I find something I think is genuinely good, I can't talk about it with anyone because the weeaboos who have watched it are illiterate and the people who are literate enough to understand it don't ordinarily go out of their way to watch things like that.

I literally cannot stop thinking about Revolutionary Girl Utena and how it's a hermetic parable about apocalyptic theosis but I can't talk about it with anyone because the weeaboos who like it are illiterate and only enjoy the show for its social commentary or whatever. Conversely, the people who ARE literate enough to get it, would probably never be driven to watch the show because of the impression its fanbase/the discussion around it brings.
