I decided I'd attempt to start writing (a book). It will be set in an imaginary world. I do not want pure fantasy with elves/goblins, but neither do I want to restrict myself to rigidness of the real world. I'd feel uncomfortable changing the history. I want to write it myself from A to Z. I will have parallel plots with characters at different levels of social hierarchy, who will inform the reader of what is going on in the world but certain events will be unknown.

The novel will not be white-and-black, the characters will do both good and bad for their peoples, and in the process through their mouths I will try my best to humiliate beliefs (I will introduce some religion in the book), morality and human dignity. Some characters will be less evil, but I will enjoy burying them in history and portraying as villains from the point of view of the normal folks in the book.

I'd like to keep technology and mindset of the normal folk somewhere at level of Italian city-states between 9th and 15th century. Which would you recommend? It's a trade off between increasing complexity and ability to include economic interests, more sophisticated technology and higher level diplomacy.

From the point of view of entertainment, what do you think about blending fantasy and characters that will not only take part in battles but also express their views on life?

pic related: i-am-a-good-boy and i am on a mission to save the world, and you can expect the book to have a good end is making me sick.

Son of a bitch. I can't remember if I read this or not. I remember something about the twins dying and Murtagh fighting Eragon.
What happened in the last part?
